“The Yoh Theatre Players at Woodstock Union High School will be performing Metamorphoses on Friday, Oct. 11 and Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m.
Metamorphoses, by Mary Zimmerman, brings Ovid’s tales to stunning visual life. The play subtly mixes the ancient stories of pathos and tragedy with contemporary language, humor, and thought, all enacted in around a large pool of water in the center of the stage.
The themes of love, the inevitability of change, and the human ability to adapt to change are timeless, as amply demonstrated by the sometimes eerie closeness of a vignette to the original lines from Ovid, which still managed to resonate with modern viewers.”
